Fortnite is the multiplayer video game that’s sweeping the world. It’s free to download and available on a wide range of devices, including gaming consoles and computers. Its popularity has been huge, with tens of millions of people playing and chatting online about the game each day. It’s also the subject of much debate, with some claiming that it’s addictive for children and a cause of competition-related rage. But it’s important to remember that fortnite is just a game and, if used responsibly, can be fun and educational for kids.

Fortnite was created by developer Epic Games in 2017. It is free to play but offers in-game purchases, such as weapons and outfits (‘skins’). Fortnite is rated 12+ by PEGI, and depicts violence with guns, though the images are cartoonish. It’s popular with teenagers and young adults and has a large social media following via video and streaming apps like YouTube and Twitch.

The main attraction is the game’s Battle Royale mode, in which up to 100 players are dropped on a remote island and battle it out until one person is left standing. It is a mix of scavenging for weapons, building forts and shooting computer-generated opponents. Each match lasts 20 minutes or so, and players must quickly find a safe place to land. During each round, the island shrinks, forcing gamers to get closer together, resulting in increasingly intense encounters.

Battle Royale has a variety of modes, including Solo, Duo and Team. Solo players are dropped into the game alone, while Duo and Team players play with a friend or with two teammates. The game also features ’emotes’, which are a series of animations that can be performed during gameplay, often featuring dances, gestures and pop culture references.
