A massive hit with kids, fortnite is an action-packed multiplayer game that drops 100 players onto an island and pits them against one another in a last person standing battle. It’s hugely popular with kids and teens and can be played on PCs, PS4s, Xboxes and smartphones. It’s also the most-watched game in YouTube history and there are many social media influencers who play the game and provide tutorials. It’s a wildly addictive and immersive experience that has many parents worrying about their children’s addiction to it.

Parents need to know that fortnite is a game of skill and strategy and can be a good way to relax and unwind. However, it’s important to set clear rules and limits for how much time your child can spend playing the game. It’s also a good idea to use parental controls on the game that allow you to filter swear words in text chat, disable friend requests and turn off voice and chat; block access to making in-game purchases and enable a timer for screen time. You can also sign up for weekly play reports, which will email you your child’s gaming activity.

While there is a lot of hype surrounding the game, it’s worth remembering that fortnite is just a video game. It’s not as educational as a book or movie, and it shouldn’t be used as a substitute for other more meaningful activities. However, it is a fun and engaging game to play with friends or family members, and it’s also a great way to connect to people online who you may not otherwise speak to regularly.

There’s a lot to love about fortnite: it combines two genres that are big hits with young gamers, it has a more cartoonish look than some more violent video games, and it’s free-to-play. Kids can also play the game with friends from across the country or world, and they can watch their favourite gamers on YouTube and Twitch, which creates a sense of community.

Fortnite has multiple game modes, but the most popular is the Battle Royale mode. This free-to-play game pits up to 100 players against each other in a last-person-standing showdown. Players scavenge for weapons, supplies and health packs on an island that’s gradually shrinking during each 20-minute match and then engage in fast-paced player-vs-player combat.

The game has a wide range of weapons, from sniper rifles to baseball bats and grenade launchers. Weapons can be found spawning on the ground (referred to in the community as ‘floor loot’), from chests and supply drops, from defeated enemies, or from other players. The game also allows players to build structures, such as houses and defences. The game also offers a wide range of emotes, which are animations that your character can perform. There are also competitive aspects to the game, with a Ranked cup and other tournaments. Players earn XP through gameplay, and can buy new outfits or weapons with that XP.
